Discovery Time

I recently found out about the Pleasant Valley Library it is brand new and is so nice! I was so excited because I have taken Blakeley to Discovery time before with friends but have had to go out to North Ogden Library. I was so glad to find one closer we could go to! We went a few weeks ago and Grannie Sheryl came with us...

When discovery time was over they announced that next week they would be talking about Lizards. For the entire next week 3 times a day, Blake would say "gonna talk about lizards mommy!" she was so excited about it. We went (forgot my camera) and it was a lot of fun, Blakeley even got brave a touched one of the lizards!

We are so excited, we found out last week that Blakers is getting a little brother!! We had our 20 week ultrasound and we are so grateful that everything checked out great. We are getting a little guy this time and I feel like I'm not sure what to do with a Boy but I am excited to find out!!

We waited until that night to tell our parents together we wrote a little poem on a card with the ultrasound and gave it to them at the same time, lots of fun!

I also wanted to write some of the cute things Blakeley has been saying about this whole baby thing...

"You getting bigger mommy, huh. The Baby too?"

If we see another baby she will say..."like in you's belly!"

She likes to tickle the baby by tickling my belly

She likes to listen to the baby in my belly, she says "baby says goo, ga, ga"

One time while she was "listening" a water bubble moved across my stomach and she laughed and said "the baby tooted"

I asked her what are we going to do with a little boy and she said "rock him and put him in the crib"

She has been so sweet saying she wants to help me take care of the baby and she will let him share her crib! Not sure if all of this will continue when the sweet little one arrives on the scene but I am loving how excited she is!

"I Painting Mommy!"

I feel like Blakeley minds pretty well and I have always been grateful that she is very careful about only coloring on paper, coloring books, etc. She is always so good to bring me markers if she finds them and to ask before she colors...etc. So as of last week we are just going to throw all of this right out the dang window!!!

I practically watched her color all over the beam in our basement! I called Direct TV about our bill, I was on the phone for them for about a half hour. Meanwhile Blakeley was about 2 feet from me saying that she was "painting" "look mommy, I painting." Now in my defense, one of her favorite things to do is get my make up brushes and pretend to paint things. I always figured, no harm done, she is just pretending!! So I thought that was what she was doing. I hung up the phone stoked that our new monthly price for Direct TV was 30$ less than before and...nearly crapped my pants when I realized what she was really "painting" with...crayons! Oh boy I was very, very, very unhappy with her. I marched her right to her room and let her know that she knew better and this was absolutely unacceptable! I went down snapped some photos and then got her out of her room to clean it up...I talked to her about why we don't do this and told her to get cleaning. As you can see she was really sad and upset about it...

She told me "this is fun mommy" it was one of those moments when you have to laugh or you might cry or maybe beat your child :) The red and purple came right off with a warm rag but the blue wouldn't budge at all. I had to use the magic eraser for that which worked like a charm! So we survived our first coloring incident and I'm pretty sure it won't be our last!

January and February

So I have tried to write a post about January and February about 3 times now! It is always a novel and sounds so depressing, so forget all of that! Here is the long and the short of it...I watched my daughter have a seizure for 22 terrifying moments, spent 12 hours talking to doctors and "sleeping" in the hospital hoping she wouldn't have another, was told she had a seizure disorder and was sent home with a rescue medication, Blake is now afraid to sleep in her crib so sleeps with us most of the time, I don't sleep for more than 2 hours for 3 weeks straight because I am so worried about her, Rob worries about his mental patient wife and if Blakes will have another seizure, finally we see a neurologist 3 weeks later to have an EEG done, and her diagnosis was that the seizure was just a fluke and is likely not to ever happen again. This was obviously the most wonderful news of the whole ordeal and we know it was a result of much fasting and prayers on Blakeley's behalf.

A few thoughts...watching my child have a seizure was easily the scariest thing I have ever witnessed and I only had to watch it once. I have learned that for some people this is a frequent occurrence and I can't imagine a life like that. It is so sad and scary and you can't do anything about it you just have to let it happen! So I have a new found empathy for anybody who has to deal with this on a regular basis. I am so grateful for the power of fasting and prayer and for wonderful family members who prayed and worried with us. I have a lot to be grateful for, when Blake was having her seizure and lost the ability to talk to me I thought for a moment I would never get to hear her talk or make me laugh again. How grateful I was when she woke up the next morning complaining about her IV and that she wanted to go home. Believe me I felt bad for her but hearing her talk was music to my ears! So this is still kind of a novel but much shorter than the last 3 attempts :)

Blakes had to go down to Primary's for her EEG. That is a test where they put electrodes all over their head and measure their brain waves to make look for any abnormalities. She had to be sleep deprived for the test. We had to put her to bed 2 hours later than normal and wake her up in the morning 2 hours earlier than normal. Fun! Then we had to keep her awake for the drive to Primary's, more fun!! My mom had a great idea to go to SLC early and play before her test to keep her awake. It worked out great, I rode in the back with her to keep her from falling asleep. We took her to Discovery Gateway and to lunch before her test. Here are a few pictures from Discovery Gateway, it was a super fun place and Blakes loved it!

After Discovery Gateway we went to lunch and then to Primary's. We had to have the EEG done first, poor Blakes was so traumatized by all of her recent hospital/Dr visits she started crying the minute we went back to have the test done. She cried the whole time the put the electrodes on her head, then they wrapped her whole head in gauze she had the cutest little "turban"on! But she was so upset about it we never got a picture. After they do all this trauma then they say okay she needs to go to sleep...um okay if only it was that easy! She just laid there in my arms crying and crying that she wanted to go home and that she wanted the turban off! Poor thing, they brought in a little musical crib toy that she watched and thank heavens eventually fell asleep. I was so glad cause she was so tired. However they only let her sleep for 10 min then they came in a flashed all of these lights in her eyes and told us to wake her up! Can you say Cruel!!! So she was SO mad when we woke her up. We took all of the stuff off and washed her hair. Then she got to go play for a while until we saw the Neurologist!

The Neurologist was so wonderful with us and with Blakeley. I had 2 pages full of questions for her and she patiently let me ask her all of them! She checked Blakeley out and tested her development by asking her a ton of questions. Blake made us so proud by answering them all correctly, the doctor was so impressed with her! We didn't find out the results of everything until the next evening but again we are just so grateful that none of this effected her development and that she doesn't have a seizure disorder! Being at Primary Neurology clinic really helps you realize how lucky you are to have a healthy child! We have also been so touched by all of the help, support, and love we had while going through this little experience. We are so grateful for our wonderful family and friends!

So that post was still a novel but oh well, it is what it is!

I really wanted to post Josh's Obituary for those who didn't get the chance to read it. I think it is such a nice tribute to Josh. I have been so proud of the Brian family and how they have handled their trials. Rob, Nat, and Jake all spoke at Josh's funeral and gave such sweet tributes to him there as well. I'm so grateful to be part of such a wonderful family who have taught me so much. I also want to say thanks to all of you who sent condolences by text or Face Book, called, sent cards, sent gifts, or came to the viewing/funeral. You don't realize how much a small act is appreciated in a time of grieving. We appreciate all of the love and support and are so happy to associate with such wonderful people. Love you all!

Joshua Chad Brian

Joshua Chad Brian, age 35, finally returned home Tuesday, December 29, 2009 while at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on August 29, 1974 in Ogden, Utah. He was the oldest of 4 children born to Robert Jay and Janet Elaine Hoyal Brian.
Joshua attended Kanesville Elementary, Wahlquist Junior High, Weber High School, and Washington High School. He enjoyed playing Babe Ruth baseball, as a catcher, for many years. He was selected for the Babe Ruth All-Stars for three years in a row.
He learned to love stories of his Savior as a member of the Taylor 1st ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He completed his earthly mission attending the South Davis Branch of the Bountiful Heights Stake.
Josh was a source of much humor in our family. He was quick to laugh and loved funny stories. When he wasn’t with his family, he could be found enjoying the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling with friends and family. He loved Chris Le Doux songs and rodeos.
Over the last sixteen years, Josh has shown his family the meaning of courage, patience, and love. His attitude and smile exemplified “bravely enduring to the end”. His life is a blessing to our family.
The family wishes to especially thank the staff at South Davis Community Hospital for their love and care the past 16 years. We would also like to thank our many friends and family members for their love and prayers.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Janet Brian, Ogden, Utah; his sister Natalie (Joe) Dussol, Farr West, Utah; brother Jacob (Vanessa) Brian, Plain City, Utah; brother Robert (Karah) Brian, South Ogden, Utah. Joshua also had 3 nephews; Hayden and Hudson Dussol and Macguire Brian and 3 nieces; Kale Brian, Blakeley Brian, and Harper Jane Dussol and a new niece or nephew on the way. They all love their Uncle Josh.
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Townley and Pearl Brian, Norman Samuel and Anona Williams Hoyal, and Faye Judd Woods Hoyal.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held Saturday, January 2nd at Leavitt’s Mortuary starting at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow services at Aultorest Memorial Park.

December

Another long post...Sorry! December was so fun we had lots of fun going to Christmas parties and teaching Blake all about Christmas, Jesus, Santa, etc. She was so cute about everything and got so excited about everything and anything we got to do! Here is a little bit of what we did...

Started out the month with our friend Christmas party! So fun. We always wonder why we only get together with our hubbies and kids once a year...

The Girls :) We missed Siddoway and Sunny this year! 3 years running...for the last 3 years Jenna has managed to spill chocolate from the fountain on her shirt, which has also always been white :) We thought the previous 2 years were due to her pregnant belly at the time...apparently not! So funny I had to take a pic!

Miracles happen and dreams do come true :) I'm aware I am being dramatic but this was a long time coming...how long you may wonder...7 years...I'm so proud of my cute hubby for sticking with it and Graduating! For the last 7 years he has worked full time and gone to school. For many of those years he was going full time school and working full time to provide for our family! On top of all that he still managed to be a wonderful father and husband to Blakeley and I. He amazes me and I am so proud of him, not to mention grateful to finally move on with our lives! Here is some cute pics from his special day...

Rob had lots of sweet family members show up to support him, they also then spoiled him with graduation gifts!! What a lucky guy :)

So I wanted a picture of Blakeley in front of the tree with her cute Christmas Dress...well I should have been more specific about wanting a "happy" "smiling" "sweet" pic of her. Oh well we will take what we get...I think her get-up this year was adorable! Thanks Grannie Sheryl for the darling dress!!

Baby #2 is arriving in July!
The story behind the onesie. For the Thompson family we all have shirts and we all have a number. The number is given based on when you enter the family. For example I am 65, Rob is 135, and Blakeley is 180. So we had a onesie made with the Thompson logo on front and "Arriving July 2010" on the back!

Gave the same gift there is a little story behind Rob's dad's portion however...Rob's dad LOVES Sportsman's Gift Cards for any and all occasions. This year he made it very clear that all he wanted for Christmas was an ultra sound picture. He asked for this probably 10 times over the season. So we had Janet open the onesie and Rob open and Sportsman's Gift Card with a cute little ultra sound taped where the card goes. He was shocked!! It was so fun to share our news with our sweet families!!

Christmas Day! Blake has been asking for a kitchen for Christmas since October (I wish I was exaggerating!) So she was so excited to find this on Christmas Morning...
It was darling she ran out, looked and her kitchen, gave it a hug and said "I love it so so much!" What could be cuter than that! I love this girl!
